Hanoi Highlights & Cooking Class

Begin your day with a delightful stroll through the heart of Hanoi, starting at the Presidential Palace on Hung Vuong Street. Wander down Phan Dinh Phung Street, shaded by towering Sau trees and lined with French colonial architecture. Stop at Cua Bac Church, a French creation with oriental nuances, then pass Bac Mon Gate and charming colonial villas before enjoying a break at a hidden café on Ly Nam De Street.

Discover the Old Quarter’s hidden gems, including a family preserving the art of traditional papier-mâché masks. Explore historic alleyways, visit temples, and hear the tales of this ancient city. Stop at Kim Ngan Temple, over 500 years old, before enjoying a refreshing drink at a local ‘Tra chan’ spot, with a splendid view of St Joseph’s Cathedral – a symbol of Vietnam’s French history.

In the afternoon, enjoy a hands-on cooking class with a local Hanoian host. Learn to prepare authentic Vietnamese dishes, then cook alongside the chef and savour your creations, accompanied by beer, in the cosy home of your host.

Hanoi – Ninh Binh

Depart Hanoi for the picturesque region of Ninh Binh, often described as “Halong Bay on land.”

Board a traditional wooden boat for a tranquil cruise along the Ngo Dong River in Tam Coc, gliding past towering limestone cliffs and lush rice paddies. A highlight of the experience is watching your local boatman row using their feet—a remarkable technique unique to this region.

Disembark to visit Thai Vi Temple, an ancient structure built in 1258 featuring monolithic greenstone, elegant pagodas, and intricate stone carvings. Continue with a gentle walk through the rice fields to a small countryside shop where you can purchase regional specialties.

In the afternoon, travel by coach to Mua Caves and ascend nearly 500 stone steps to the summit of Ngoa Long Mountain, also known as the “Great Wall of Vietnam.” The panoramic 360-degree view from the top perfectly showcases why this area is called “Halong Bay on land.”

For those who prefer not to climb, you may relax at the base of the mountain, exploring the lotus garden, fishponds, and sculptures, or purchase refreshments at one of the local stalls/restaurants.

Mua Caves Note: If you prefer not to participate in visiting Mua Caves, you can stay in the charming Tam Coc town and opt to join an optional tour such as a E-Bike Tour (costs apply).
